Your beginning readers are ready to decode. But where are the Spanish books?
You teach the syllables. You practice them on the board. Your students can read ma, me, mi, mo, mu all day long.
Then it's time to read a book... and suddenly the page is full of words they haven't learned how to read yet.
English teachers have shelves of decodable readers. In Spanish? You're lucky to find a few, and most of them don't follow the order you actually teach the syllables.
So you end up:
- Writing your own little books late at night
- Translating English decodables that just don't work in Spanish
- Watching students guess from the pictures instead of reading the words
- Trying to give your strugglers more practice without adding more prep
Your students deserve books they can actually read. And you deserve your evenings back.
Introducing Spanish Decodables for Beginning Readers
A complete set of 56 Spanish decodable books built around the syllables you already teach. Every book uses the target syllables your students are learning, so they practice real decoding, build fluency, and feel the joy of reading a whole book on their own.
Two books for each syllable family means you always have a second book ready for extra practice, reteaching, or intervention.

How these decodables make your teaching easier
⏱️ Small groups planned in minutes
Every book follows the same routine, so you can grab the next book and teach. No searching, no creating, no Sunday night scramble.
🧭 A clear path to follow
The books follow the Spanish syllables, so you always know what comes next and your students practice the sounds you're teaching that week.
🔁 Built-in extra practice
Two books for every syllable family gives you a ready-made second book for students who need more time, reteaching, or intervention.
📖 Real decoding, not guessing
Students sound out words using syllables they know instead of memorizing patterns or guessing from the pictures.
✏️ Reading and writing, connected
Tracing practice and dictado are built right in, so students apply the same syllables in their writing.
🖨️ Truly no prep
Print, fold, and you're ready. Every student gets their own book to read, color, and keep.
🏠 An easy family connection
Send books home so families can hear their child read in Spanish and keep the practice going outside of school.
💪 Confident, proud readers
There's nothing like a beginning reader finishing a whole book on their own. These books give every student that moment.
A simple 20-minute small group routine
Every set comes with a teacher guide that walks you through the same 6 steps for every book. Once you know the routine, you can teach any book in the set without extra planning.
1. Warm up (2–3 min): Activate the sound. "Hoy vamos a leer con ___." Students repeat and clap the syllables.
2. Syllable practice (3 min): Build automaticity as students read the syllables in and out of order.
3. Word building + blending (4–5 min): Tap, blend, and read 2–3 words from the book using flash cards, whiteboards, or tiles.
4. Decodable reading (5–7 min): The most important part! Students read the book while you prompt with "¿Qué sílaba ves?" and "Júntalas."
5. Writing connection (3–4 min): Guide students through a quick dictado with words or a sentence.
6. Closure (1 min): "¿Qué aprendimos hoy?" Students review the syllables or skill.
Is this for me?
These decodables are perfect for you if you:
✅ Teach Kindergarten or 1st grade dual language, bilingual, or Spanish immersion
✅ Lead Spanish reading small groups

Hi, I'm Lily!
I taught first grade dual language for 9 years, and I know how hard it is to find Spanish decodable books that actually match what you're teaching.
I wrote these decodables with the same goal I had in my own classroom: give beginning readers books they can truly read, and give teachers a routine simple enough to use every single day.
My hope is that these books save you hours of prep and help your students fall in love with reading in Spanish. 💚
